The Mediterranean League against Thromboembolic Diseases (MLTD) is a multidisciplinary Scientific Society with a great tradition, created more than 40 years ago with the aim to promote the scientific advance and dissemination of knowledge in Thrombosis and Haemostasis.

The Society aims to create bridges between the clinical practice and the basic science, bringing together research scientists on vascular and molecular biology and clinicians of many different disciplines such as: Haematology, Cardiology, Neurology, Angiology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Gynecology and other disciplines related to Thrombosis.

Thrombosis is a very complex phenomenon in which advances on basic, clinical and pharmacological research are very rapid. To translate the scientific advances into the clinical practice is of utmost importance, as Thrombosis is the main cause of mortality in the advanced world.

The MLTD contributes to the translation of scientific advances to the clinical practice with a multidisciplinary and international approach organizing international Congresses on Thrombosis, Educational Courses and Symposia oriented to the advance in the fight against Thrombosis with the support of the MLTD Foundation.

The Society currently has seventeen member countries from the north to the south areas around the Mediterranean Sea and it is open to scientists from other European countries and worldwide.

The Mediterranean League is now open to new members to collaborate in future activities of the MLTD.
